Stopping by Empty Dish in the Afternoon

A cat and an empty food dish.
A poem inspired by Robert Frost's "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening," written with help from my cat.

Stopping by Empty Dish in the Afternoon

Whose dish this is I think I know
The kibbles are in the cabinet though.
They will not be taken out just now
To fill the dish up with chow.

I do think it very sad
To stop before this empty dish,
Between water dish and toy mouse,
Lunch eaten hours since.

I give the empty dish a paw
To see if kibble might be added now.
The only other sound's the clock
Whose slow ticking does so mock.

My dish is still empty, dark and deep,
The promised kibbles yet to be replete,
And hours to go before I eat,
And hours to go before I eat.

Woods on a snowy evening.

More sadness.
